Why this practice exists

I entered psychiatry from many sides of the system.

First as a loved one, then a patient, and later as a bedside psychiatric nurse. I’ve seen how clinical settings can heal, and I’ve seen how they can harm when people are rushed, over-medicated, or not truly heard.

Those experiences shaped my commitment to build a practice that is human to human, trauma-informed, and non-coercive.

Here, medications are never mandates.

They’re one option among many, chosen together. You’ll get clear explanations, space for questions, and support that adjusts with you over time.

Hi, I’m Grace Kim

MSN, PMHNP-BC (she/her)
I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner and the founder of Rediscovered Psychiatry — a practice devoted to rebuilding trust in mental health care through curiosity, consent, and collaboration.

I believe care should feel like a conversation, not a checklist.

My work is guided by a deep respect for autonomy, relational safety, and nuance. Through an intersectional lens, I consider how identity, culture, body, and systems of power shape the way we experience both distress and recovery

I welcome hard conversations. I don’t see questioning, discomfort, or difference as barriers, I see them as part of honest, transformative care.

I want my patients to feel safe challenging me, and to know that complexity is not a problem to fix but something to explore together.

As an eldest daughter, Korean American, queer, and first-generation college graduate, I carry lived experience of duty, belonging, and resilience.

I also acknowledge the privileges I hold — as a cisgender, able-bodied, educated clinician practicing within a system that wasn’t built for everyone.

Those intersecting identities shape how I show up: with humility, transparency, and a commitment to rediscovering psychiatry as something that feels ethical, inclusive, and deeply human.

A little more human

Outside of sessions, you’ll find me with a cup of matcha, a good romantasy novel, and my dog Lucy — usually walking the city with my wife, Sarah.

I believe healing isn’t only found in therapy or medication; it also lives in rituals, rest, music, and good food, the everyday moments that remind us we’re alive and deserving of care.

I don’t see you as a diagnosis.

I see you as a whole person

Someone with a story

Someone who deserves respect

What care with me is actually like

01

We start with you

A 60–90 minute evaluation focused on your story, not just symptom boxes.

02

We plan together

Evidence-based options, explained in plain language, with your autonomy at the center.

03

We coordinate

When helpful, I collaborate with therapists, dietitians, IOP/PHP programs, and PCPs.

04

We honor your pace

Healing isn’t linear. You don’t have to be “sick enough” to deserve support.

Philosophy in practice

I work with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and other neurodivergence, identity exploration, and eating/body image concerns.

Trauma-informed and non-coercive

HAES-aligned and anti-stigma

Justice-oriented

Whole-person

Many of my clients are AAPI and/or LGBTQIA+, high-achieving, sensitive, or caretakers who are ready for care that is both professional and deeply human.
